The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) was founded on November 13, 1967, initially under the name Association of Thai Industries (ATI). It was established by 27 visionary industrial leaders who recognized the need for a unified body to represent Thailand’s growing industrial sector.
Led by its first president, Mr. Tawee Bunyaket, the Association aimed to promote cooperation among industrial entrepreneurs, strengthen the private sector’s voice, and support national economic development.
The emblem featuring the letters “FTI” within three interlocking gears symbolizes unity, strength, and continuous industrial progress—values that remain central to FTI’s mission today.
Originally founded as the Association of Thai Industries (ATI) by 27 visionary leaders. Mr. Tawee Bunyaket served as the first president, creating a strong foundation for industrial unity.
The association's first emblem featured the letters "FTI" encased within three gears. These gears represent the driving force of industry, moving forward in harmony to power the nation's economy.
Gaining recognition, the TIA became the private sector's representative on the Joint Government-Private Sector Committee (JGPSEC), working directly with the Prime Minister to solve economic issues.
The government officially elevated the status to the "Federation of Thai Industries" under the Act of 1987. This placed FTI under the supervision of the Minister of Industry, solidifying its national role.
